The Ukraine adoption program is currently on hold. As of September 19, 2005, the Ukraine government suspended the acceptance of dossiers from the United States and several other countries.

According to the National Adoption Center in the Ukraine, the decision to stop accepting dossiers was based on the past non-compliance of some families with post-adoption reports, which are required by Ukrainian law.

There is also pending legislation that
proposes that authority for intercountry adoption be transferred from the
National Adoption Center to the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports, that
may change the processing of intercountry adoptions in the Ukraine.

We continue to support our families with registered dossiers, and will begin
accepting new applications when the suspension is lifted.
